Training
Programs
In
partnership with the Workforce Investment Board, Pima County
Community Services administers a variety of training programs
available to the public.
In
partnership with local businesses, the City of Tucson, and
Pima Community College, The Southern Arizona Institute of
Advanced Technology (SAIAT) offers a High
Tech High Wage Program to develop high tech assemblers
and electronic technicians currently in demand by local industry.
A general High
Tech Readiness Program is also in place to provide the
foundation necessary to pursue a variety of technical programs.
To
help individuals prepare for this program as well as other
workforce development initiatives, a Math
Skills Enhancement Program has been developed. This three
month course helps adults of all ages to overcome "math
anxiety," giving them the skills and confidence to pursue
the technical training of their choice.
Basic
Skills Enhancement Programs also exist to address other skills
including language and writing.
